Conversation With My Kid

D2* called tonight. She just cracks me up. She can be so completely innocent sometimes. Some people find it irritating, but I find it refreshing. She also reminds me so much of me.

"Hey mom, my roommate got all pissed at me for not buying and sending you a card."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, I can't remember why we don't send you cards, can ya tell me again, so I can explain it to her?"
"Well honey, I'm a very simple woman. I don't need cards and gifts. It's more important to me when you just take the little effort, like a phone call, to tell me you love me and are thinking about me."
"Oh yeah, I thought it was because you know we are poor and don't want us wasting our money on you."
"Well that too. But it's more just taking that extra effort to let me know you care."
"Well of course I care, I call you almost every day."
"Sometimes a couple of times a day."
"Well I'm bored."
"Oh really? And here I thought it was because you loved me so much."
"Nope I'm just bored."
"I love you to honey."
"Huh?"
"Never mind."
"Now why did I call you again?"
"Because you were bored."
"No I had a question."
"You did? What was it?"
"I don't remember."

Yeah, that's my clone all right.
